Professional Learning
Below are a few strategies you might find useful on a day to day and week to week basis to keep your progress going.

Identifying Learning Options
No matter your experience or education, your job will likely ask you to do things that are new to you and be in an environment that is new to you. Adopting a learning approach to the job will help you build your strengths and create connections within the new role. There are several places to find opportunities to learn and grow:
- Ask your colleagues and supervisors for feedback on your work and suggestions for things to learn.
- Look at what more experienced co-workers are doing, or even the next position up, to see what skills and knowledge are valued and helpful. You can ask your supervisor or HR if there are professional development opportunities or support.
- You can also keep an eye on job postings in your field to see what they are asking for in the required and preferred sections. Are specific new technologies or skills coming up more frequently? That may be something to pursue. You can come back to the Mitchell Hub to share what you learned and to see if there are courses in this new area.
